Back from Elsewhere

Hello everyone. Apologies for the few weeks' hiatus, but you didn't get dropped from the list, and hopefully we'll be back on a regular schedule. And just in time since there is a LOT going on.

Tonight, some great old-time music at Ellis Bar in Park Slope with Nat Rowan, Joel Wenerstrom, Jason Sypher and Charlie Shaw. Down in Dumbo Will and Wylie have their Whiskey Wednesday and of course the Sheriff will be jamming in the Village. You can also hear gypsy jazz in the Slope with the Tin Roof Trio or head over to Red Hook for Roots and Ruckus at Jalopy.

Tomorrow night is the Kings County Opry, this month featuring Bryan Dunn, the Strung Out String Band and the song circle with Jesse Miller, Sammo and Alex Battles. Meanwhile at Jalopy Kari Denis and Rob Hecht are doing a double fiddle show with some special guests, followed by Tom Bailey and the Aristocrats.

Friday night Mamie Minch plays Jalopy, Demolition is at the Rodeo Bar, John Pinamonti plays at Banjo Jims, and Jen Larson plays at Sunny's with Tony Delello and friends. That's a week's worth of great music in a single night so get busy!

Saturday and Sunday we have brunches and jams galore. Saturday night, Vincent Cross hosts a bluegrass jam at Banjo Jim's followed by a full night of good music, and on Staten Island Blue Harvest plays acoustically (and by candlelight) at the historic Richmondtown Tavern. On Sunday Emily Eagen and Don Friedman host their wonderful harmony workshop at Jalopy.

Monday night is the slow jam at Paddy Reilly's, and while there's no longer a regular host the jam at the Undergroud on the Upper West Side is still happening with a small group of folks.

Please note that the Johnny Cash San Quentin show at Southpaw on February 28 is SOLD OUT, so if you don't have tickets you're out of luck. Or maybe you can scalp them.

As always, check the calendar for complete details, or sign up to receive the newsletter by email.
